To Use Insurance...Or Not? - It is sometimes necessary to utilize insurance benefits for therapy. After all, that's why we pay the premiums. Right? Some people, however, prefer not to use insurance benefits when it comes to mental health treatment. There are some sound reasons behind this preference. Your mental health record may be requested as part of your medical record if you apply for life insurance or other benefits. Although your mental health records are kept confidential by law, your insurance company must receive a report of your diagnosis in order to make payment. In the end, the decision to utilize insurance is a personal one. If you decide that utilizing insurance benefits is the best choice for you, we are happy to help you with questions regarding your coverage. If you provide private payment at the time of service and request that we not bill your insurance, no official diagnosis and no electronic record is necessary.
